According to recent reporting, Monster Baby Donuts will open its first brick and mortar location at a vendor booth inside East Market at 212 Kelton Ave. The donut business started last year and has been serving the sweet treats at various farmers markets, festivals and popup events throughout Columbus and Dayton, and growing a following ever since.

Besides offering cake donuts in classic flavors like vanilla topped with glazes in chocolate or vanilla, or rolled in cinnamon sugar, customers can also opt for a bit of whimsy with the cake donuts also available topped with pink vanilla or chocolate glaze and rainbow sprinkles. Besides offering the conventional donut flavors, what really sets the donuts apart is that they’re all vegan and gluten-free.

Owner Emma Fleming told What Now Columbus that the inspiration behind the menu items stems from her own allergies to certain foods. Fleming began making her own baked goods and over time she perfected her recipes.

“I’ve always baked, but I learned that if I wanted something good I had to learn to make it myself.”

Now, with the brick and mortar location she hopes to have a bakery case so that guests can mix and match flavors and build their own boxes of half and full dozen donuts. In addition to offering the donuts, the business hopes to eventually expand the menu offerings to include things like bread slices and muffins.
