According to a Columbus Business First article, steakhouse Smith & Wollensky will return to downtown Columbus at 350 N High St, near Nationwide Arena. The eatery, known as “America’s Steakhouse,” left the Columbus area in early 2023 when its lease was up at its former location at Easton Town Center, but at that time, the steakhouse vowed it would return.

With the recent announcement, Smith & Wollensky is making good on that promise and the current timeline for opening the Arena District location is slated for some time next year.

As noted in a press release on the restaurant’s website, the restaurant will be located in a fully renovated first-floor space at the Hyatt Regency Columbus Hotel and will include a patio that faces High Street as well as valet service, a large U-shaped bar and seating for over 300 guests across indoor and outdoor spaces, which includes three private dining rooms.

“Smith & Wollensky has always held a special place in the hearts of greater Columbus diners,” Nathan Evans, Brand President of Smith & Wollensky Restaurant Group, said in the press release. “We were deeply missed by the community when our previous venue closed at the end of our 20-year lease. Now, we are excited not just to serve our loyal guests again but to be part of the fabric of downtown and the vibrant Arena District. We look forward to contributing to the city’s growth and offering elevated dining experience that complements the spirit of Columbus.”

In addition to hand-butchered steaks, the menu features fresh, premium seafood, signature starters and sides, desserts, craft cocktails and an extensive wine list, per the press release.  In addition to the forthcoming Columbus location, the company has restaurants in Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, Taiwan, London and its original location in New York.

The company will announce a more specific opening timeframe once construction at the site is complete.
