According to a Columbus Business First article, a new sports bar is headed to Grandview. Draft Day will open in the former home of Smokehouse Brewing at 1130 Dublin Rd. Owner TJ Valentino plans to add games like darts and pool tables, plus Golden Tee and Pop-a-Shot machines, as well as a jumbotron to the center of the 11,000-square-foot space.

Valentino owns Tino Hospitality Group, a hospitality group that aims to make a significant impact on the local dining and entertainment scene. Valentino sees the Draft Day concept as something that could be successful in multiple markets, and Tino Hospitality Group has its eye on the Cleveland and Cincinnati markets as possible future homes of the sports bar.

“The concept was built to be scaled, but the sports idea would change a little from market to market to focus on that city’s sports teams,” he said.

Although all the brewing equipment has been removed inside, Valentino plans to utilize the brewery’s outdoor smokers, and the menu will feature sliders, wings and pizzas, along with lighter fare such as salads as well as shareable plates.

The drink menu will feature a selection of beers, the 16 taps will have a variety of Columbus craft brews, along with worldwide draft favorites. In terms of the cocktail program, Valentino promises that guests can expect a fun twist on classic cocktails that will have a sports theme integrated into each drink’s name.

There are plans to repave and refinish the 90 space parking lot, which Valentino sees as the perfect place for tailgating, as well as hosting events and pop-ups. Additionally, the process has been started for outdoor expansion, in the form of a patio, which should be completed in time to open by next spring.

“We wanted to create a place where people can come together, whether they’re passionate about beer, love sports, or just want to enjoy great food in a lively setting,” said Valentino. “This location has a rich history, and we’re excited to carry that legacy forward with a fresh new experience.”

Construction is currently underway, and Draft Day is slated to open next month. Stay up to date on all the opening details by following the establishment on Instagram
