Local Ice Cream Company Opening Scoop Shop in Powell in 2025

Johnson’s Real Ice Cream will open a 1,400-square-foot shop with indoor seating as well as a covered patio area in early spring 2025.

As reported in a Columbus Underground article, local ice cream company Johnson’s Real Ice Cream has recently announced its plans to open a new scoop shop in Powell. The shop is slated to open in early spring 2025 and will be located at 4290 Home Rd. This will be the company’s seventh store, and it seems to be in keeping with the business’s recent growth, as the company opened three shops in 2024, in Canal Winchester, Italian Village and Grandview.

The Powell store will come in at 1,400-square-feet and will feature indoor seating, as well as a covered patio. Guests at the Powell location will be able to find its variety of ice cream flavors available in shakes, sundaes and scooped into cones or cups, as well as specialty items, like ice cream cakes.

Next year, the company will celebrate 75 years in business and Matt Wilcoxon, fourth-generation owner of Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, had this to say about the company in a statement, “As we celebrate 75 years and expand our presence, our commitment remains steadfast: to honor our great-grandpa Johnson by crafting quality ice creams that bring people together.”
