The New Jersey-based fruit bowl shop Playa Bowls will continue its central Ohio expansion and launch yet another location next summer, near Ohio University. The chain, which got its start on the Jersey Shore ten years ago, is operated by franchisees, and local franchisee Brett Coleman shared with What Now Columbus that he plans to open the location next summer.

Coleman hasn’t shared the address of the forthcoming location or further details like square footage or seating capacity at the OU storefront yet. Coleman operates the Dublin Playa Bowls located at 6704 Perimeter Loop Rd, in Dublin, and the Quarry Trails storefront, located at 2193 Quarry Trails Dr.

The franchisee is in the midst of expanding the brand’s Ohio footprint. Earlier this month, Coleman filed a permit to open a shop in Polaris at 1515 Gemini Place, which is currently slated to open in early 2025.

While fruit bowls are a staple of the menu, the chain also offers juices and drinkable smoothies, as well as cold coffee drinks.
