According to recent reporting, Nocterra Brewing Co. is opening a taproom at 516 Maier Place in Scioto Audubon Metro Park. The taproom, called Nocterra Brewing at Audubon, will be housed in a 5,000 square foot indoor space with a mezzanine, spacious patio and the location will include a full restaurant concept. Construction on the taproom is currently underway, but there isn’t a firm timeline for opening as of now, according to James Knott, a partner with Nocterra Brewing Co.

When the Audubon location opens, guests can expect to enjoy a beer and food after they’ve worked up an appetite or thirst from doing any number of activities available in the park, such as cycling on the bike path, climbing on the rock wall, kayaking up the river, taking a walk or run, or spending time with their pup in the dog park.

And for a brewery with a like tagline that’s “Beer + Outside = Nocterra” having a location in a park seems like the perfect fit. Further nods to the outdoors include two roll up garage style doors adjacent to the patio that will help tie together the outdoor and indoor seating areas, as well as mezzanine seating that overlooks the climbing gym next door at Bloc Garten.

The brewery currently has a Powell taproom located at 41 Depot St, which doesn’t have a kitchen, but hosts food trucks. However, the brewery is currently developing its own food truck, called Trail Magic, which will operate at its Powell location. The Trail Magic menu is being developed by chef Carmine Catullo, who has been selected to head up the kitchen at Nocterra Brewing at Audubon.

Knott said the food truck is an opportunity to introduce guests to some of the Audubon location menu items, which will feature food described as elevated American contemporary bar food with an adventurous twist. According to Knott the menu will feature things like burgers and fries that are presented in a fun way. Chef Catullo will also incorporate beer into the cuisine as well as create dishes to pair with the always changing tap list.
