According to a recent Columbus Business First article, Columbus Brewing Company is closing its tap room located at 2555 Harrison Rd in order to make changes to its food offerings and service model. The brewery currently has another location, known as its beer hall, located at 200 Kelton Ave, which opened earlier this year and will remain open while the Harrison Road location undergoes the changes.

What Now Columbus spoke with Eric Bean, co-owner of Columbus Brewing Company who shared that the shifts that will take place during the closure are what he calls “experienced focused” changes. Bean said there will be some cosmetic updates, including some painting done to the interior as well as a few changes to the retail area, but mainly, the closure is an opportunity for the team to regroup and revise the service model and menu in a way that allows for a better guest experience, while also distinguishing the two locations from each other.

“The two locations morphed out of each other and we’re trying to differentiate the two. Now that we’ve scaled [the beer hall] we want to figure out what’s the best experience and figure out which pieces work and which don’t,” Bean said.

Another important change is providing beer-based events for the guests at the tap room. Bean said that one thing that marks a difference between the tap room and beer hall is that guests of the Harrison Road tap room tend to be dedicated craft beer drinkers.

While there’s still a lot that’s being worked out, right now, Bean said the timeline for reopening the tap room is March or April of next year.
