Slim Chickens was founded by friends Greg Smart and Tom Gordon in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2003 and began franchising roughly a decade later. The chain opened its 100th location in 2020 and currently operates in over 20 states, as well as in the UK and Kuwait.

The menu features chicken tenders, wings, sandwiches, salads, wraps and mac bowls, a bowl of creamy mac and cheese topped with bite-sized pieces of chicken tenders and sauce. There’s also a chicken and waffles offering on the menu, which is a waffle drizzled with maple syrup, topped with three chicken tenders and a dollop of butter. Sides include fried okra, potato salad, fries and fried pickles, along with soft drinks and desserts that include milkshakes and brownies.
