According to recent reporting, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream is making plans to open another ice cream shop later this year at 869 N 4th St, in Italian Village, in a space where ice cream business S’wich Social had operated seasonally since 2021. Last fall Johnson’s Real Ice Cream announced plans to open a Grandview location at 1325 Grandview Ave this year, and the opening of the Italian Village space will mark the company’s fifth location.

Johnson’s Real Ice Cream currently has shops in Dublin, Bexley and New Albany, and offers ice cream flavors such as vanilla, chocolate fudge brownie, cookie dough and mint chip, birthday cake and cherry cordial, to name a few. The shops also sell sundaes, shakes and floats, as well as ice cream cakes to make celebrations extra special.

The company has been family-owned and operated for over 70 years and is currently led by president and fourth-generation operator Matt Wilcoxon, who in a phone interview with What Now Columbus last fall shared that the company is “very community oriented, and we’re always looking for ways to support the community as a whole.”

An opening date hasn’t been released yet, but according to the recently published article, Johnson’s Real Ice Cream will announce more information about the Italian Village location in the coming weeks.
