The business is being brought to the community by husband and wife Curtis and Kayla Grant, who are the franchisees for the location. The Grants told What Now Columbus that after a friend introduced them to Pure Green, they loved the entire experience, from the products, to the distinct vibe they felt as soon as they walked in.

“We do a lot of things on intuition and what feels right,” Kayla explained. “When we walked in, we both got the feeling of this is it.”

Prior to that experience, the couple had been open to opportunities that would allow them to diversify and expand their entrepreneurial journey, but they just hadn’t happened upon the right set of circumstances until they visited a Pure Green as customers.

Once they had the right opportunity, they just had to find the right location. And Kayla explained that the couple chose to bring Pure Green to the OSU area because of how the institution made such an impact on her husband, who is a former Buckeye.

“Curtis has a legacy with Ohio State University and we want to pour back into the community that lifted him up,” she said.

A former linebacker with OSU, Curtis credits his time playing for the University and the competitive culture, being put in high stress environments where he and his teammates had to keep their composure and execute, as skills that have helped him in life and business. Likewise, Kayla said her upbringing of growing up in a home environment with lots of structure, encouragement to work hard and time running track, taught her valuable skills like discipline as well as learning how to be part of a team.

Given their athletic backgrounds, the Grants are proud to bring the Pure Green menu, which features cold-pressed juices, smoothies made without additives or sugars to the community.

As noted on the company’s website, some of the smoothie options include a mocha cold brew made with coffee, cacao and grass-fed whey protein, or the purple haze, made with berries, spirulina and plant-based protein. Other menu offerings include superfood toasts, such as an avocado toast, almond butter toast, as well as smoothie bowls and oatmeal bowls loaded with steel-cut oats and fruit.

There’s also a number of cold-pressed juices made with fruit and vegetables. Cold-pressed juices are made through a process using a hydraulic press that extracts the juice from fruits and vegetables without heat, which allows the produce to retain its vitamins and nutrients.

The timeline for opening the North High Street location has not been established at this time, due to where the project is in the permitting process.
