According to a recent article, a popular tea company is making plans to open a brick and mortar that will feature indoor and outdoor seating areas, as well as coffee, teas, cocktails and mocktails, along with a diverse food menu. Expected to open some time this summer, Teas Your Spirits will operate at 5286 Center St, in Old Hilliard.

The eatery will serve breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner, with items like buttermilk waffles, avocado toast, breakfast burritos, as well as soups, salads, charcuterie platters and dishes like Mofongo to honor owner Mayra Betances’ Dominican roots.

“We like to call it a fusion,” Betances explained of the menu.

In terms of drinks, there will be tea and coffee options, as well as cocktails and non-alcoholic refreshments made with Betances tea blends, such as a margarita made with hibiscus tea.

Betances said her goal is to make guests feel like they’ve stepped into a themed party, and one way she aims to do that is to combine some of her favorite things into one experience. “I consider myself very bohemian. I love hammocks and greenhouses and I love the experience of dining out.”

Guests can expect to find flowers and vegetable gardens outside the establishment, and plans are in place to have onsite greenhouses that guests can dine inside.

“They’re so whimsical,” Betances said of greenhouses. “I want it to be like an imaginary world.”

Along with the greenhouses, there’s also a patio space that features tables with umbrellas that can seat around 30. Inside, there are two seating areas, a small space with bistro style tables, as well as an area that will feature larger tables, perfect for seating groups, and all together 80 people can be seated indoors.

Drawing inspiration from alchemy, botanicals and wood pieces, Betances said the inside will have a mixture of materials like metal, wood and other elements such as framed prints of flower and herb drawings that provide details like how each item is used in the teas or cuisine.

Ultimately, the goal is to create a unique, calming retreat-like experience.

While the business is hosting private events at the space, currently Betances is aiming to open to the public in June. Follow the business on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date on the exact opening date.
