According to recent reporting, Columbus baker Annie Dickson, better known by the business name Bite This By Annie, is making plans to open her first brick and mortar in Clintonville. Dickson got started selling her baked goods at local farmers markets in Clintonville and Dublin, as well as at Budd Dairy Food Hall. Now, Dickson is making plans to bring her signature goodies like bagel bombs, which feature savory items like meat and cheese or spinach and artichoke stuffed inside a bagel, to a permanent home.

Although she has secured the brick and mortar, Dickson isn’t ready to share the address just yet since there’s currently a business operating out of the location. The timeline for opening is flexible, depending on funding, but she’s hoping to open the new space in the first quarter of 2024.

One way she’s hoping to move her dream along is through applying for grants and a business loan,  as well as a Go Fund Me fundraising campaign that aims to raise $100,000 to crowdfund expenses like equipment and renovating the space.

Dickson tells What Now Columbus that although her creations have only been on the Columbus food scene since spring 2022, Dickson says she’s received an outpouring from area foodies.

“The foodie community took my entire brand and ran with it, and every menu item has developed its own cult following,” she said.

Bite This By Annie has an eye-catching Instagram feed curated with dark colors, mood-soothing lighting and a goth undertone. Dickson says the aesthetic at the brick and mortar will mirror her social media feed and confirmed that her contractor will be “giving the space the complete Annie work up.” Although the decor is under wraps, she shared that the interior will be painted matte black and she plans to have several of her artist friends in the tattoo community contribute to the aesthetic, each in their own unique way.

“I want to take what’s existing and try and make it me, mainly through artwork, since it’s not a large space,” Dickson said of the interior.

The space will have seating for around four to six, so the focus will be on carryout, but there will still be a comfortable, cozy vibe if someone wants to linger to enjoy their items.

In terms of the food offerings, the location will offer a rotating menu featuring her legendary bagel bombs and sweets like fudgy brownies, soft cookies (called fat boys) and sandwich cookies (called slim boys), in addition to featuring things she likes to cook at home such as sausage gravy and biscuits. The drink menu is still being worked out, but Dickson confirmed there are plans to offer coffee as well as a version of the lemonade she’s sold previously which was black and contained edible glitter.
