Earlier this week, Columbus Business First broke the news that Los Angeles based fast casual chain Sweetgreen is making its Ohio debut in Columbus, with an eatery slated to open next year at 700 N High St, in Short North. A representative with Sweetgreen shared with What Now Columbus that, “Ohio has been a market Sweetgreen has been interested in for some time, and we chose to enter Columbus because it has so many elements in a community that Sweetgreen values.”

The representative went on to explain the other reasons why the Columbus market is an ideal location for the first restaurant in the state. “From its arts and food culture to strong business hub, growing metro city and nearby universities, Columbus is a creative and vibrant city. We’re especially excited to enter new markets where there have been a lot of requests for a Sweetgreen to open up and Columbus is one of those perfect fits.”

Although the exact seating capacity hasn’t been finalized yet, the eatery will be housed in a 3,700 square foot space, and the current timeline for opening is late fall of next year.

According to its website, the Sweetgreen menu features fresh, plant-forward, earth friendly food. With protein options that include chicken, fish and tofu, guests can choose from salads or bowls which feature grains, proteins and vegetables, as well as plates served with a variety of fresh vegetables, protein and either rice or quinoa.
