According to a recent Dayton.com article, soon Dayton will have a new food hall and beer garden space called The Silos, located at 800 E 1st St, which is a one and a half acre site in the middle of downtown. The first phase of the project will feature a beer garden area that will include green space as well as the food hall constructed out of shipping containers that will feature four food vendors and a bar.

The Silos is a project that has been in the works for around two years, when Wes Hartshorn, along with business partners Shannon Thomas and Scott Johnson, purchased the property for $2.5 million. Once the food hall and beer garden is launched, the owners have plans to further develop the site which could include a coffee shop, an event space and converting the four silos onsite into Airbnb spaces, as well as creating a wild flower garden with walking paths, all of which they hope to have open within five years or so.

Additionally, the team hopes to feature local artists throughout the project through painted murals and large art installations such as mosaic tiles and metal and concrete installations.

Hartshorn has developed 30 residential properties in Dayton over the past decade and a half, but The Silos is his first commercial development project, according to information in the article. What Now Columbus reached out to Hartshorn for further comment on the project, but a request for comment was not returned at the time of this article’s publication.
