According to recent reporting, three Winans Coffee & Chocolate locations in the Dayton area have had a change of ownership. The shops at 5839 Far Hills Ave in Washington Township, along with Springfield locations 32 N Fountain Ave and 1406 N Limestone St, were operated by a franchise owner, Chandi Shah, and are now owned and operated by the Winans family.
Leading the three locations will be Johanna Wilzbach, regional retail manager of company-operated stores. The stores have received updated signage and the interior of each has been reorganized and feature limited-edition Easter inventory items like chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs filled with buttercream, caramel, chocolate mousse and peanut butter.
CEO and fifth-generation family owner of Winans, Wilson Reiser was quoted in the previous article as saying, “The previous franchise owner was an early entrant into the downtown Springfield revitalization and made a big impact,” he said. “Her company grew to three locations that have spread a lot of joy to their communities over the years, and we appreciate her contributions,” Reiser further explained in the article.
Established in 1961, Winans Coffee & Chocolate sells assorted boxed chocolates, cherry cordials and chocolate covered items like pretzels and graham crackers as well as a variety of candies. Coffee options include iced and hot espresso beverages, as well as chai, matcha and other teas.
What Now Columbus reached out to Reiser about the change of ownership, but he had no further comment on the matter.
