With backgrounds in the hospitality industry, voice training, design and the unique experience of living and working in New York City, owners Matthew Silva, along with brothers Corey and Kyle Jenkins, seek to create a cocktail and live music experience that’s reminiscent of the Big Apple in Columbus.

The 3,000-square-foot bar will feature seating inside for just over 100 guests. The bar will also have a 1,000-square-foot patio that will launch after the business opens and the weather warms up. In terms of decor, the team is leaning into an elevated atmosphere and aesthetic that will feature a monochrome design, with everything in shades of red to evoke an artful and sultry vibe.

“We’re bridging the gap between old and new. A lot of the design elements are contemporary, but doing everything in a monochrome is sort of a throwback,” Corey Jenkins said.

The space will feature low, intimate lighting and plush, custom furniture that will lend to the bar’s overall feel, while also putting the guest’s comfort at the forefront. “We want people to feel good in the space,” Jenkins continued of the purposeful design.

Gold accents in the form of the lighting, bar and entertainment stage will add an old school supper club element.

The drink menu will have a focus on the classics, but Kyle Jenkins shared, “We want to bring in new and inventive ways of making cocktails.”

Curating the cocktail program is Nathan Satterfield, a consultant and bartender with experience in the Columbus hospitality scene that includes Hilton, Shaner Hotels and North High Brewing, according to Satterfield’s LinkedIn profile

Although the team isn’t ready to share the name of the chef consultant who will develop the food selections, they promised the individual is “well-versed and well-known in Columbus.” The chef consultant is in the process of creating 12 to 14 “small but mighty dishes.”

“It’s really elevated Italian small plates,” Corey Jenkins shared of the menu. The team also shared that the plates will feature proteins and vegetables and the menu will take into account the more common food allergies and dietary needs.

Of course, the cocktails and food will be enjoyed as guests take in live music. Since the owners have a background in art and singing, live entertainment will play a large part of The Rivington and the bar will host musicians across a wide variety of genres.

Stay up to date on more details as they unfold on the bar’s website.
